Fairground Electrical Issues
« on: July 15, 2015, 09:53:40 AM »
I wonder if anyone else has read or heard about this:
http://www.concordmonitor.com/home/17570163-95/will-the-deerfield-fair-be-short-circuited

Essentially the Fairgrounds board of directors and Town Selectboard are under pressure from fire officials to do what equates to something like $400,000 of upgrades to the electrical system, or face having the Deerfield Fair canceled.  There is no mention of other events besides the fair, but presumably if they would cancel the fair which is Oct 1-4, it seems likely that they would also not be able to make the grounds available to us for the fall fest.

Any thoughts, info or comments? Especially anyone more local, who might have their finger on the pulse

One ominous sentence in the article: "They also want to limit access to control boxes and exposed wires." That could mean that even if things are revamped so the fair can go on, our access to electrical outlets might be severely limited. That would make a lot of the things that happen at NEAR-Fest more difficult to do.

We are obviously well aware of this situation and are keeping an eye on it.  So far we have received no word, official or otherwise, that the Fair is not going to be held as usual.
