NEAR-Fest XXX Amateur Licensing Exams Saturday Oct. 16 10:00AM
« on: October 09, 2021, 02:50:49 PM »
Here is everything you need to know.....

The exams are given at 10:00AM on Saturday October 16th.  Bruce W1LUS and his team have been administering the exams for many years and do an excellent job.

The building is called The Arts and Crafts Building and is across the road from the Administration Bldg.  It is marked 7 on the aerial image below. Enter by the lower entrance around back.

Bruce sent me this information to help candidates prepare for the testing process.

Volunteer Exam Coordinators (VECs) are now required by the FCC to submit your FCC Registration Number (FRN) with your license application form (upon successfully passing the exam). If you are applying for a license, you must create an FCC user account and register your Social Security Number (SSN) in the FCC Commission Registration System (CORES) before attending exam sessions. Registering will create an FRN, which will be used in all license transactions with the FCC. If you already have an FRN, then there is no need to register again.

Note: The FCC is in the process of implementing a license application fee of $35, but has not been clear on when exactly this will go into effect. Most likely sometime in 2022.
