Hi Jammers!
Bri here,
Just for clarification, the jam will be either in the Entertainment building (if it's raining or to cold) or on stage attached to the rear of the entertainment building if we can handle the elements.
The outdoor stage is huge by jam standards (15' X 15' I think)

Once again a reminder: Jam locally and plan globally
Meaning: plan to supply your own equipment unless you've made arrangements with another player AND bring a little extra in case someone forgot. Like mic, instrument cables, a throne for keyboard players/ drummers, power strips, picks, etc.

As for the jam itself: I listed some songs I would play; Solo if need be,...  IF no one showed or it sputtered to the " I donno.. whata you wanna play" syndrome. This songs were not meant to be THE  jam songs (they can be if people want) They're just there to get it and keep it going. It doesn't matter to me if we don't play  note of what I brought as long as people have a good time

If you bring lyrics/chord sheets of songs you want to do consider bringing enough for say 3 and make sure they can be read from a 2 or 3 foot distance.

Bring your best heat Jammers,

Bri

Well unfortunately I just found out that I have to work both Thursday 2nd shift and Friday 2nd shift and Saturday 1st shift and had forgotten I had to play Saturday night this weekend, I am the bass player who beat the tub last year and even got a few correct notes near the end. Oh well, I'll make sure to be there this fall. I'll bring my boatanchor SVT's this fall along with both upright and electric basses and that's a promise.

Hi everyone!  Is someone still bring a bass setup? Also like Bri said so well, there is no setlist of songs! We just listed some that we know! Also I'm planning to bring along some easy tab jam songs that even beginners can play along with ease..but are still fun for the more advanced! If know know any easy to follow songs make a list to bring and a printout of the chord progression if you can! It's nothing but fun!!!!

Just to let you all know, I know that the list wasn't in stone, it's just that the titles to me were strange.  I've probably heard the songs but at the time couldn't tell you who the artist was.  I'm a child of the 60's and 70's but I'm game to play anything if you give me the chords.  I'm bringing a keyboard throne.  I know that's not much but if I had my old Hammond C-3 I would have brought that, although, I couldn't carry it under my arm.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to NEAR-Fest Jam III.
Will you look at the time.  As I write 13 hours left.
Catch ya there.

My bags are packed N' I'm ready to fly.
Just a reminder and warning to those who camp close to the entertainment building:
There is no set time to end the jam. It could go till 11pm or it could go till 2am
My guess is it'll end when we all drop, our fingers and voices give out or we run out of nectar of the gods.

See (and hear) you all tomorrow!!

I want to thank EVERYONE who helped put this jam together.
I had a great time!!
I was surprised at how many attended. We even had a great audience.

First thanks go to Mr. Mike for giving us Near-Fest and the entertainment building! (which was dry and heated)
Next for Rick who was a tremendous help with tabs, bringing a drum kit, serious guitar work and his Axl Rose voice. Keep on Knockin'.
Adam and John for the keyboard vibe and audio transmission to the fest.
Raj for bringin' the heat and some serious chops.
Scott for bringing the low end and great harmony.
The rest of the names are sketchy at the moment ...someone's gotta help me out here.
There was "the kid" who played awesome guitar then drums.
The mystery drummer who kept the time like a clock.
The smoking guitar player who kicked my butt with a tine Gorilla amp. Come back and teach me little wing
Our clandestine singer who I found out later could play a mean guitar.

And to our audience. They clapped, sang along and danced. What more could you asked for.

I do wish to apologize to the 2 gents that came in after midnight to let me know enough was enough.
Our understanding was we could play till we dropped. We'll make that very clear next time.

Next  jam will hopefully have a radius mark around the entertainment building warning of impending late hour music/noise and those sensitive individuals should seek a location from the entertainment building.
I also want to work out something for the Bluegrass and acoustic players. Our demographics scream we all be represented here. I'll figure out something and post it to the forum.

Respectfully, Your humble fellow player,

Bri

Does this mean you'd like to do it again in October at NEAR-Fest IV?

Great.  You're hired!

While we're at it, a big thanks to Bri for taking the ball on this and seeing it through.  Thanks to his efforts we had a warm, dry and, most of all, more sanctioned place to play and listen together.  Not to mention being a great and versatile guitar player with an awesome voice.
