camping?
« on: May 01, 2008, 01:42:43 AM »
I am new to NEARfest and hamfests in general.  I will be coming up with a group of between 5-10 people from W1YK (Worcester Polytechnic Institute ham club).

We originally intended to come back home Friday night and return to Deerfield on Saturday, but one of us decided we should camp overnight in a tent.  Is this something that is possible?  Is the only available camping area the parking lot?  We are not going to require any water or electric hookups, so are there any other places where camping is allowed?

Thanks for your help.

Yep, Lots of space to camp. Find a place in the grounds and have fun!

It seems that this is a well kept secret of this event. I'll be new this year as well and as near as I can figure out, it's a giant free-for-all. But far from free. I'll be arriving Thursday afternoon and staying until Saturday afternoon at a cost of $50. Camping is in one location Thursday night and then you have to move for Friday night. I guess. Details are hard to come by. Hook-ups, dumping station, all a mystery at this point. Guess I'll find out!

All that would be interested,

I found a nice company on Route 4 in Chichester: http://www.rvsolutionsrents.com/

They have really nice trailers and RVs available for rent. For an extra fee, they will deliver to the fairgrounds. They are familiar with the hamfest and Mr Mike.

I did suggest to them that they create a hamfester special pricing as the minimum time rental is 2 nights. So it may be a little pricey, but to keep the wife warm and cozy and NOT complaining it is worth it. Since they sleep 6-8 or so, you can get a few people in on it to cut the expense.
