Death Food at May 2008
« on: May 03, 2008, 07:48:57 PM »
Hi. I got to the May 2008 Nearfest aT 7 AM... cloudy, a few sprinkles, but not bad. Set up, walked around, finally got an egg sandwich and coffee at Angelinos food stand at 8 AM.

After 2 hours with an anchor in my stomach I threw it up at 10 AM. Everyone told me I should have eaten at the Church's stand.

Anyone else have a problem with fest food?

Other than that, I enjoyed the meet, met old friends, and found some good stuff.

Tom

No death here.
I ate at the Church stand (veggie burger, What the hell was I thinking?) then to wash the taste out of my mouth, I went for a hot dog at the place near the church stand. It was good....MMMMMmmmmm.
Back to the same for clam chowder.

We all eat there too!  Outstanding!  Best breakfast anywhere!

The Deerfield Community Church kitchen normally operates only four days a year during the Fair at the end of September.  We are very pleased and grateful they accepted our invitationto join us.    Last Fall the kitchen had just been used for the Fair so it was fairly simple for them to clean it up in preparation for NEAR-Fest II.  However, for May it was a lot different; it took a great deal of work for them to scrub down their kitchen after a long winter and we're glad they took the time and effort to do the cleanup so they could be with us at NEAR-Fest III.

I am pleased that they joined us in May and am already looking forward to those wonderful breakfasts in October.  Our thanks go out to Faith and Kevin and all the wonderful volunteers who make it happen.

Sorry to read of your experience.  My wife had a similar experience with an egg salad sandwich about thirty years ago at college and I've never heard the end if it.

Hopefully you are the only one who had this experience.

Must have been flu or something. One of the high points of NEARfest is the food, and we (Leo VE2SI and Nora VA2NH) look forward to Angelino's truck and the nice healthy food he serves. The only thing that would make it better would be poutine, but it's not on the menu yet. His breakfast can't be beat.
