95.1FM - do your own show!
« on: May 05, 2008, 11:03:11 AM »
I had suggested this to many who stopped by to talk to us at the stage and figured I'd post it here.

My partner Adam and I thought that it might be fun to open up the broadcast to invite guest hosts to do their own show and add more flavor to the programming on 95.1FM at the fest.  Specifically, if you (or someone you know) is interested in broadcasting or putting together a show, there are 1 hour time slots that we will gladly make available to those interested.  No previous experience in broadcasting or show production is necessary - only knowledge in the subject material you are interested in covering.

Like the NearFest Jam, we want to open this to all Hams and fest attendees.  We think this would not only be lots of fun for us, but for those interested as well, and would provide a richer source of entertainment for those who are tuned in.

Some ideas for shows could be Ham Radio related, music related, news/information related, on-air discussions of radio history or equipment, or anything that you think would be fun and interesting.

We plan to encourage guest hosts to fill time slots of at least a half an hour to an hour maximum each.  If you are interested in airing your own program, just discuss it on this thread and tell us what you'd like to do.  We're all ears.

Some things you can bring/use to enhance your show:

1) music or sounds on a removable hard drive or USB memory stick (for digital audio) NOTE: we do NOT have a CD player so make sure your audio is in MP3 form and encoded at least at 160kbit or better.

2) Vinyl:  we have 2 turntables and you are welcome to bring your own vinyl.

3) Notes, and other items to keep your show organized, coherent and on track.
