95.1FM The Pirate Ship @ NearFest VI

Ok, we finally got off our butts and got our website together!  ;D

See what's in store for NearFest this October and learn of a new place on the web for those interested in MicroBroadcasting to get started:

Anyone can join and discuss the topic of microbroadcasting and learn from each other how to set up a station, processing, equipment, etc.

We'll also post bulletins for future NearFest plans there as well.

Lastly, we noticed more people brought a small transistor radio to keep up to date on the prize drawings and info announcements in the spring.  That worked out VERY well...  We encourage everyone to do it again in October.  Roam the grounds, be entertained, and best of all, hear your ticket number when we air the drawings in real time.  This time, we'll also be broadcasting any specials from vendors, etc so having us tuned in will be key for first dibs!

As always, we'll be airing the HamJam live and in stereo - listen from the comfort of your camper if you like, or go see them in person!  Either way, you are guaranteed a good show.  They did an awesome job for us back in the spring, keep it up guys!

See you all in the fall!   ;)

Again, we highly encourage everyone to carry a small FM-capable radio receiver with them so you all can hear everything that's going on without being chained to the Relaxation Grove.  Get out those transistor radios, old Walkmen, mp3 player w/ FM tuner etc. and tune into 95.1!! If you don't have one, you can probably pick one up at the fest for just a few dollars.  For those of you who are camping, if you have a boom box and you like Classic Rock, bring it along and crank it up so those who don't have radios can 'check in' while they are browsing your table of goodies.
The Deerfield Fairgrounds is not equipped with a grounds-wide PA system like Hopkinton was, so this the best we can do.
Also.....you have at least a few hours leeway to claim your raffle prizes, so you don't need to hustle right over to the Grove to get 'em!  Just stop by and check the board every now and then.
The golden circular Prize Drum will be right at the front of the stage, as always.  Please deposit tickets directly into the barrel.
If the Shriners have their barrel, it will be there too.

HAVE FUN! 8) (and please don't steal our pens!

One last thing...
John and I would both ask that all requests outside of Fest-related news items for 'announcements' or 'paging' be limited to Emergencies or Lost-and-Found only.  We certainly want to help out, but we need to respect those who don't want to hear the PA barking in their face any more than they have to.  As always, if you need to turn something in for Lost-and-Found, you can bring it to the stage.

Thank you all, and let's have a great Fest!!

Thanks Adam, no matter what the weather, we'll keep you connected to what's happening around the grounds!  Bring a small boom box or transistor radio and if when the temps drop, you can catch the Ham Jam on your radio from the comfort of your warm RV/tent & friends.  We broadcast on 95.1FM providing complete coverage of events and entertainment throughout the grounds and beyond.

EXTRA SPECIAL for Thursday night campers, we have a little something for you: classic old time radio!  We'll take you back in time to the radio drama broadcasts of the golden days of radio after 9PM!  So if yur camping out Thursday, break out the radio, pull up the sheets, and let your imagination create the stage like your grandparents did when they were kids listening to crystal or tube sets!

Friday morning, while you wait at the gates prior to general admission, keep us tuned in for the opening announcements, morning news, and a special announcement by NearFest Management.

To ALL DJ's working with us: Please bring your own headphones with 1/4 connector.  Headphones for broadcasting will not be provided but are required for best results.  We will have a "loaner" pair on site, but you may prefer to work with your own.  Also, if you have a UHF radio, we suggest you bring it as we have our own frequency for air crew communications!

No matter what the weather, we're armed and packin'!

As John said, there will be a loaner pair or two of headphones so if you guest DJ's forget yours it's OK.  There is also going to be a CD player in the rig, as well as two turntables.  I will also have some 1/8 to stereo RCA cables if anyone wants to hook up an iPod or mp3 player or something.
