Where to Dine in and around Deerfield.........
« on: April 11, 2007, 07:33:02 AM »
Here are some unsolicited suggestions on places to eat in the area surrounding Deerfield and the NEAR-Fest.

My favorite place in the area is JOHNSON'S in Northwood.  Great seafood.  It's a bit far from the fairgrounds but worth the trip.  JOHNSON'S is where the traditional AM DINNER is held on Friday night.  There is also a pizza place and a decent Chinese eatery also on Route 4.

In the town of Deerfield itself there is Yannies Pizza, your standard pizza joint, (nothing special but close) and the Lazy Lion which is a slightly up scale dinner, both are located in the center of town.  In Candia, which folks coming from the south will likely pass through, there is Pasquale's offering excellent Italian fare, but it's fairly expensive.

To the east is Raymond with fast food, several pizza joints and a Chinese place.

To the NW headed towards Concord is Epsom, which has Chinese, pizza and a real nice, real family dinner at the circle, very good stuff cheap.

As for places to stay, you have to go to Manchester or Concord, each about 25 minutes away.

Just a warning to travelers, all the local PDs are heavy into traffic enforcement due to a rise in serious accidents lately.  So don't blow your hamfest stash on a speeding ticket.  SLOW DOWN.

Got any favorites?  Please feel free to post them.

And there are lots of good places to eat in Manchester.

A few more suggestions:

A close place to Deerfield is south right off Exit 1 off Route 101 on the Massabesic traffic circle.  It is called Spatt's.  (Deerfield is Exit 3 off Route 101)  I have never personally been, but understand it is a happening place in the evenings.

Exit 7 off Route 101 in Epping sports an Applebee's.  And Exit 11 in Exeter has a Margaritas Restaurant.

Holidays Bar & Grill is right off Exit 2 off Route 101 http://www.newhampshire.com/article.aspx?headline=There%e2%80%99s+someplace+like+Holidays+in+every+town&articleid=482

As some of you know, the AM crowd has a dinner gathering on the Friday night of every 'fest. In recent years we've been patronizing Cheers in Concord because it was easy to find, had decent food, and reasonable prices. Now that we're going to be east of Concord a ways, what do you guys 'in the know' suggest for a good, typical place along the line of Cheers (burgers, fries, steak, chicken, etc) that can handle a group of 10-20, maybe more?

Johnson's is sounding like a really good bet to me, at least as far as the food goes. I'm not terribly familiar with the roads south and east of Deerfield, so I could be missing something really obvious. I do remember having breakfast at Sonny's in Epsom on an early Saturday morning. Did they ever rebuild after the fire?

Johnsons is about a mile or so east of RT 107 south into Deerfield, you really can't miss it.  I'm not sure about Sonnys, but the place I was reffering to is on rt 28 just north of the Epsom circle

At the Epsom traffic circle (intersection of Rtes 4 and 28, east towards Concord from Deerfield), just north on Rte 28 is the Circle Restaurant: excellent breakfast:

Another fine place to dine right in the town of Deerfield is The Lazy Lion.  I love Momma's Meatloaf and the Fish 'n Chips are pretty tasty too.  Be advised that the seating is limited and you may have to wait.
