Jam-Fest IX
« on: November 22, 2010, 09:06:37 PM »
I'm early but couldn't resist since Mr. Mike created the "IX Jam board" just for us!
I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but the questions bear asking.
If it brings a better jam I'll try it!!

What did you like about the last jam?

What didn't you like?

What worked?

Why didn't I think of that?

What didn't work or could use help?

When your spouse rotates your tires, are they just spinning them?

What would you like more of?

What would you like less of?

If a train is going 65 mph how long does it take the little blue pill to work it's magic?

Were you happy with the start and end times of the jam?

There wasn't much of a "jam per se" do you care or would you have liked  more solo time?

How was the sound overall?

Sarah Palin in leather or jello pit?

How was the balance of the instruments/vocals?

Your Near-Fest Jam Uber Co-ordinator,

Bri

What did you like about the last jam? - The people and camaraderie of course!

What didn't you like? - There was a lot of "dead time". The music didn't continue to flow like in jams of past.

What worked? - We did, a lot!!

Why didn't I think of that? - Because that beverage you were drinking was double dosed!

What didn't work or could use help? - As mentioned above, there needs to be less dead air. More songs, less talking about what songs to play.

When your spouse rotates your tires, are they just spinning them? - Spinning, yeah. He doesn't rotate my tires. To do something right, I gotta do it myself. Just ask him about the radiator I changed while he sat inside in spinning his records.

What would you like more of? - Yes

What would you like less of? - OK, got me on this one. I dunno.

If a train is going 65 mph how long does it take the little blue pill to work it's magic? - Depends, was it a suppository?

Were you happy with the start and end times of the jam? - Yes, perfect.

There wasn't much of a "jam per se" do you care or would you have liked  more solo time? - Doesn't matter to me, I'm easy (Don't tell Ben)

How was the sound overall? - Sound was fixable due to Ben and I's magic mixer.

Sarah Palin in leather or jello pit? - *shudder*

How was the balance of the instruments/vocals? - It was ok.

Attention Near-Fest Jammers.

It's been an interesting winter so far.
In 2 weeks I'll be starting a new job. New responsibilities, new hours and well.. new everything.
So, I won't be hosting this springs near-fest. I don't think I'll even be able to make that fest at all.
Bummer for me but not for you as I've asked a fellow jammer to step in for me as host for the spring jam.
I'm hoping this will be a temporary issue but I won't know till I've been in the job a while.

Rick Allen has officially accepted to fill in for the spring fest.
I can tell you he has been at almost every fest and Hosstraders jam since way back when.
He's  brought drums, guitar mic stands, extra equipment and signature vocals to many Near-Fests.
He'll make a great host and I'd like you all to give him your support and your best at the jam.

Rick won't go it alone. He'll need help from the Core!
I'm not going to name all involved, only the most dedicated and hard working. These people show up on time, offer help, rally the troops, put the word to the street, loan equipment and try their best to entertain. The Core arrive early, bust hump and leave late.

At the top is bass player John Derrico
John has been instrumental (no pun intended but it works so I'll leave it.) in helping me get the jam to where it is today.
Enthusiasm, practice, always trying to be supportive; That's John.

Cliffy
Slider Supreme. Cliffy has been at the Near-Fest jam from the beginning as well.

Ben, Jenny and Andrea.
They supply the P.A. , muscle it in and out, run sound and even cook food for the players and audience alike.
What an awesome group of people.

There you have it Festers.
When I have more word, you'll get it.

Bri

As usual, the Jam will also be broadcast over The Pirate Ship on 95.1FM with board audio provided by Ben who sets up the PA.  As far as I know, Ben will be there.

We have a wireless link back to the "studio" where the feed will go to our broadcast setup, so you guys will be loud and clear all over Deerfield.  If anyone wants to record the Jam, just tune any FM receiver to our signal and into the recording instrument of your choosing.  Ben provides us with a very nice and balanced stereo feed so it always sounds fantastic, just like being there.

Ben, Andrea and I plan on attending again as always with all the needed PA equipment in tow. The event has turned into a bi-annual family event that we wouldn't dream of missing.

Do you all want food again? If so, any requests?

Yahoo! It's officially one month before the big day! Have you decided what songs you
want to play? Well if not, I've added more suggestions. Check out Rick's list first.

This is my (dynamic) WISH List. It may change depending on who's attending. If there's
anything in here or in all other lists that get posted, I'd like you to speak up and
commit to something; the big word being "commit".

It's also my hope that any and all of you who want to play at the jam, to be more "proactive".
This means speaking up about your desires, wants, needs and participating in the whole
process of "having fun". The more committed you are, the more solid we all sound.

As with Rick's list, this is just a starting point and the songs may or may not get played.
It all depends on how proactive and committed you are.

       embarrass you.

To all the players out there

Rick, John, Ben, Jenny and Andrea are trying to bring you a quality show and a bitchin good time.
The least you can all do is respond to the posts.

I'm bummin big time that I can't make it this time but don't despair!
That gives you all more face time with the mic.
You don't have me hoggin all the stage time.

So, whadda ya say; Can you help a brother out an send a note to Rick if your coming, playing, singin', rappin, funkin'
just ate some bad meat so I'll soon be chunkin' (Yet another fantastic lyric by Shab-Co International).

Please (I know you can't see this but I'm on bended knee right now) I'm beggin ya.

Post if your coming to the jam...to jam
Post what you wanna play or sing
Post you credit card number and pin
Post what equipment your gonna bring

This is easier than sex and depending on how good at it you are, it might be more pleasurable!

You can do it, we have faith.
Do the right thing

Have fun and damn it someone hit the record button

Bri

Hi everyone, Rick here!

We're getting closer to the Nearfest!
I'll get straight to the punch!
Do we have a drummer?
Please let me know if your a drummer, planning on being there, & bringing a kit?
(Not to worry everyone, cuz if no-one comes forward, I'll bring my electric kit & play drums!)
You may contact me via this post or personally via RickXAllen@Yahoo.com

Once again, I'd like to point out that all musicians /singers & hams/not yet Hams! are welcome to join the jam! And of coarse, ALL are welcome to be in the audience. If you've never stopped by the Ham-Jam, It's in a nice warm building, & a lot of fun!

I have been getting quite a few e-mails lately & alot of people are asking for some TABS on the song lists.
I'm currentlly working on a nice file full of tabs/Lyrics that I can send out to whomever would like it. E-mail me if you'd like a copy! Or if you have any questions/comments!
