NEAR-Fest X Schedule of Events   

Friday, October 14th 2011.

6:00 AM: Fairgrounds Gate 'G' opens for Blue (Staff) and Yellow (Commercial Vendors) ONLY.  Commercial buildings open and set up commences. 

7:00 AM: Fairgrounds Gate 'G' opens for Clubs & Associations passholders only to occupy their traditional spaces.  NO "FOR SALE" ITEMS DISPLAYED OR SELLING IS PERMITTED UNTIL 9:00AM.

9:00 AM: Pre-Paid Entry, Gate 'F' opens for RED ticket and passholders only.    Once the Pre-Paid entry line has entered the General Admission line will enter through Gate 'E'.  Flea Market and Tailgating buying and selling commences.  Please note our new flea market parking policy:

3:00 PM: Disappearing Ham Radio History: Hope for the Future with Professor Tom Perera, W1TP (Located in the Entertainment Building, see map)

Remember Radio Row in New York City and how the World Trade Center took over all the surplus stores?  Join Tom for a trip back to those days and see pictures and videos of what Ham Radio used to be.  Then look to the present and future to see how some museums and our very own "NEAR-Fest" are helping to keep Ham Radio alive and well now and for future generations.

Tom is a retired psychology professor who specializes in the History of Enciphered Military Communications, and the Telegraph. He has published widely in these fields and is well known to people who attend radio events from New England to Dayton. His knowledge combined with 58 years experience as a licensed ham makes this is a presentation you won
