One That Got Away......
« on: February 01, 2018, 06:26:04 AM »
This item from my collection is very scary just to look at.....

It is a young German lady?s passport, issued in Berlin in December of 1938, with visas for three South American countries.  It is interesting to note that her passport was valid for only one year.  Traditionally passports were issued for five years.

Also she was married but has her own passport which is also somewhat odd.  Married women were usually included on their husband?s passport.

I don?t have to tell you what the big red ?J? stands for.......

Beatrice Seelig was 27 years old when she fled.  She was one of the lucky ones.........she got away.

Shown are the visas from Chile, Bolivia and Uruguay that undoubtedly saved her life.....Hope she lived a long and happy life in South America.

Don?t think it couldn?t happen again.........
