HOERWACHE (Listening Watch) is a maritime radio simulation for Morse Code marine radio and is primarily aimed at former marine radio operators but also for interested amateur radio operators.  Anyone else who wants to have some fun with Morse Code is welcome too.

Translate to English by clicking on the British flag at the top right hand corner of the page.

Fill in: Schiffsname  (Ship?s name)... QRA
            Rufzeichen  (ship's callsign) .....
            RO name     your name
            CW speed   15 wpm or whatever you can copy.
Google Chrome (and Chromium and others) will automatically translate from DE to EN except for the pictures.
You will finally come to a screen, it will give you two buttons with German words.

Obviously click on ZUR FUNKSTATION.

Stand watch!  Click on MAIN RECEIVER "ON" if you go listening to a WX or TTT off of 500 kHz, turn on the
emergency receiver so you can maintain watch on 500 kHz.

Stations will announce TFC LIST and the frequency they will send on.  Also there are stations on HF you
can tune into.

There's more! You can send with Morse with an audio oscillator like the side tone of an amateur radio transceiver or an audio code practice oscillator.

There is already the possibility to connect a Morse key to HOERWACHE  via the sound card.

To do this, you have to connect a morse key to a sound generator and connect the sound generator
output to the microphone input on the sound card.

The program has a simple oscilloscope with which you can display the signal, as it is passed on to HOERWACHE by the browser.

The Morse key only works when the transmitter is switched on.

So you first have to switch on the transmitter, then turn up the MIC knob on the transmitter (please leave the power unchanged) and set the mode selection (chat, key) to key. The Morse key is now active.  Now you can switch on the scope with the scope button below the display.

The slider on the right is for setting the threshold. This can be used to suppress interference in the lower part of the signal. The InSig / OutSig switch has the following meaning: InSig -> signal from browser to HOERWACHE input, OutSig -> signal from HOERWACHE input to Morse decoder.

The signal is decoded and then sent as a decoded character (ASCII) to the server via the socket interface and from there distributed to all connected stations.

The microphone must be activated in the browser for it to work. Please check this in the settings of the browser and if necessary activate it for www.hoerwache.de. If the signal can be decoded correctly, the output appears at the bottom of the chat window.
