Hi Gang!

This article is a work in progress..  See below for a list of prizes for NEAR-Fest XXXIII April 2023.

Great news!  Our newly created Prize Committee is going to be totally revamping the drawing and prize giveaway process.  The committee consists of Ross, W1EKG, Paul, W1GTX and myself.  We are totally revamping the entire process with the premise that no one should have to take home a prize that they do not want.
We see it at all events that have door prize drawings, like...We are now drawing for an ARRL Handbook...and the winner is..Fred Schmendrick!  This is all well and good because many of the prizes at events like NEAR- Fest are donated but what if Fred already has a handbook?  We are going to try to make sure that anyone who wins a door prize at NEAR-Fest will receive something they want and can use.  The prizes Committee has been given a liberal budget to buy prizes that we know our attendees will want and be happy to take home.
Without going into great detail there will be two categories of prizes, Grand Prizes and Door Prizes.  Grand Prizes will be drawn at 5:00PM Friday and 2:00 PM Saturday.  There will be a Prize Pool of door prizes with winning tickets drawn throughout the days.  Winners will present themselves at a pre-announced place where someone drop the Committee will be present.  After checking their tickets the winners will be allowed to choose which prize they wish to take from available items in the Pool.  Naturally the earlier someone collects their prize the broader the choice will be. Value of the door prizea will be from $50 to $150 with the average being around $100.  Winners will not be subject to receiving a 1099.

All prize drawing and collection activities will take place in the Relaxation Grove,

The Grand Prize will again be a Yaesu FT-891 mobile HF Radio. Thanks to Dave at HRO in Salem for getting us a good deal on these.   We are now in the process of building our Door Prize Pool and will have them listed and described in this forum.
Remember, you can buy another ticket or two that will increase your chances.
