Greetings HAM n' eggers!

Adam & I as well as the other members of the PirateShipRadio crew will begin broadcasting at 4:00PM Thursday afternoon (we have entertainment by radio for the early campers!) and we'll provide broadcast coverage for the entire duration of NearFest VII!  Once we flip the switch at 4PM, we'll be on the air around the clock continuously until the concluding ceremonies at 2PM on Saturday.

WE STRONGLY ADVISE ALL ATTENDEES TO BRING AND USE AN AM/FM BROADCAST RECEIVER TO ENJOY OUR PROGRAM BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, TO STAY CONNECTED TO ANNOUNCEMENTS DIRECT FROM MANAGEMENT AS WELL AS PRIZE DRAWINGS!  This can be a walkman (if you're walking around), or a boom box at your campsite, etc.

Though our format is open, Adam & I have traditionally offered the following rough schedule:

Thursday:
Construction of the broadcast system begins at 2:30-3PM
We apply power and begin our official programming at 4PM
Adam spins classic rock/special selections on vinyl for your listening pleasure until he decides to take a break and then we cut you into some old-time radio drama from the golden age of radio!
old-time radio can generally begin at around 9-10PM.  Once we start the old-time radio, we generally run that until we go live for the gate opener on Friday morning.

FRIDAY:
Our live coverage of the morning begins at 7AM and we give you the latest news and important information directly from Fest management as you wait in line at the gates.  We'll also play some groovy hits from the 80s as well as some classic rock cuts off the wheels of steel.  In addition to our coverage on 95.1FM Stereo, you'll also be able to pick us up on the 650KHz signal that TimTron sets up if you are listening from AM gear.

When the time for opening the gates comes upon us, we'll feature our traditional opener album: Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S. which will play without interruption as you all enter and setup shop.  "The Tron" will be featured for the opener and issue a countdown before the record plays.

Throughout the day, we will be airing prize giveaways - so PLEASE be sure you have a radio available to you to receive these.  It WILL save you time since you won't have to stop by constantly to check if your ticket number has been called, freeing you to peruse the grounds.  We'll also air information about forums being held and their location, etc.  Vendors can also stop by and drop off adverts to get the word out on special deals that are available.

John will host the "Blue Plate Special" all-request lunch at noon so if you'd like to hear a tune, simply call in on our simplex (listed below).  Adam & I are VERY pleased to announce that once again, D.J. Frederick will be hosting his show on the PirateShip this fest!  You DON'T want to miss this!

As the sun sets upon NearFest Friday night, Adam will keep you rockin' through dinner with classic rock & prog favs and we'll provide continuous live stereo Jam Session coverage of the Ham Jam using our "WokFi" microwave dish link.

When we pack it it for the night, we'll put things on autopilot and run old-time radio overnight for any late night die hards.

SATURDAY:
Saturday is a VERY busy day at NearFest!  We begin live coverage at 7AM and we will be very aggressive with prize drawings and coverage of fest information.  Be sure to have your radios tuned in throughout the day, to stay ahead of those who don't!

Our simplex call-in frequency will be:
147.555MHz (please set a TX PL of: 156.7Hz)
We run a CTCSS squelch due to the noisy RF environment, and you WILL need the tone to break our squelch and be heard!  We'll be monitoring this frequency throughout the entire fest.  When calling, just call CQ CQ CQ and we'll know you are trying to reach one of our D.J.s (who will likely be a licensed HAM).

On behalf of Adam, myself, and our esteemed guest hosts & crew, we look forward to providing you with coverage of NearFest VII!   ;D

If you are interested in hosting a show with us, please respond to this thread, we'd be happy to work with you to get your program on the air and add your piece to NearFest.
