NH Camping Tax
« on: April 13, 2010, 06:15:46 PM »
For what it's worth, the NH senate has repealed the camping tax as of this month.  So y'all can keep the 9% in your pockets.   :)

This is good news for NEAR-Fest!   We have it down to where all ticket and pass prices are in $10.00 increments which makes it easier for the Shriners and volunteers to make change quickly and efficiently.  Imagine the delays at the gates while everyone fishes around for coins?  It just wasn't worth the hassle of collecting $1.80 or $.90 from each camper.  So last Fall NEAR-Fest decided not to pass it along to you and simply absorbed the 9% "Tent Tax" tax to the tune of $180.00 which was handed over to the Fair Association who forwarded it to the State of NH and that was the end of it.

The Bill (HB 1445) has passed the NH House and Senate and is presently sitting on Governor Lynch's desk awaiting his signature.  From what I read it goes into effect upon passage so hopefully the tax will be history by the time we get there on April 30th.

Thanks for the info, Stan.
