Bring FM Broadcast receiver...
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:53:57 AM »
Hi folks, as usual, 95.1FM (The Pirate Ship) will be on the air starting Thursday evening until the closing ceremonies on Saturday.

During the fest, we'll have several guest DJs, classic rock, 80s, and other alternative programming.  In addition to that entertainment we'll also have all the latest news and announcements directly from NearFest management.  As a reminder, the PA (if setup) DOES NOT carry much beyond the Grove, so an FM receiver of some type will be needed wherever you are in order to keep up to date on the latest news and info.  In the middle of announcements, etc, we'll keep you informed & entertained with the range of programs we offer.

As always, we'll also carry the Ham Jam live from the entertainment building.  So if it's too crowded in there, or if you would rather hang out with your pals in your RV/camper, you can enjoy the Jam (and the wild stuff that comes with it) at comfortable volume levels and clarity.  Following the Ham Jam, will be a live broadcast featuring roundtable comedy hosted by Chris K1MHZ.  Anyone is welcome to attend in the studio and contribute to the program.

We will have a UHF (70cm) simplex call-in setup and we'll announce the frequency and tone soon.  So if you'd like to interact with the broadcast crew, you can do so from the comfort of your spot.  Of course, anyone is welcome to join us at the studio (a big black trailer that will be parked behind the Grove stage).

On behalf of the people who make up The Pirate Ship, we look forward to another entertaining broadcast at NearFest.

Hi everyone,
We also humbly request that the camping area to the right of the stage in the Relaxation Grove where the broadcast trailer is set up be kept clear.  This is because our organization has grown to the point where many different people (and their vehicles) are coming to help us out; and we'd like to keep our group somewhat together.  Also, we need a somewhat clear path for our wireless transmission to the Entertainment Building.
Thanks all!!

Adam
