Hey Mike, not sure I understand this....

Does this mean if I come in to sell driving a van or car on Friday and sleep in it Fri nite and stay Sat, the inside parking fee is $10.

But if I come in Fri to sell and have a truck camper on the back of my truck and sleep in it and stay Sat, the fee is $20?

I plan on bringing my camper (my avatar) towed by my pickup. I will be there Thursday night and Friday night. Is it $10 for me and $20 x 2 nights for my truck and camper = $50. Or is it more?Also is it possible to leave the camper in the camping area and drive my truck in to the fairground to set up and leave the table covered by my truck overnight.And then just walk down to the camping area to sleep. That way I can be away from the noise at night. Randy

You will find it a good hike to get back in the main gate once the masses have been let in.
but there is plenty of room in the lower area where you should be able to find a place to park with out having alot of issues with noise from others.
You will just find that you will have to walk up the hill to get to the major parts of the festerrr.  but that is not to bad when you consider if you make a purchase and have to haul it back to your camper, but then you can leave everything hooked up if you like by parking over the hill also.

It does look like the total would be $50.00, but bring a little more just to cover it and if you don't use that you can spend it at the fest if you find something that you just can't live with out.

Jim is correct.  It would be $50.00 for two nights camping, one admission and one inside parking space.  However the Thursday night camping area MUST be vacated Friday morning and all vehicles moved either inside the Fairgrounds or into the main parking lot.

1. There is nothing there that says per day, but is the fee for the vehicle per day?
2. If I arrive Fri in the tailgate area in my car and sleep in it overnight is the fee $20?
3. If I arrive Fri with a camper on the back of my pickup (a truck camper) into the tailgate area and sltay overnight is the fee $20 or $30?
4. If sleeping in a truck camper costs more than sleeping in a car, why?

I'll try to answer them individually.

No.  The $10.00 vehicle pass is good for both days.

No.  You would only pay $10.00 for a vehicle pass. whether you sleep in it on site or go to the motel for the night.  Your car is not intended primarily for sleeping, cooking or living in so the "camper" fee wouldn't apply.

3. If I arrive Fri with a camper on the back of my pickup (a truck camper) into the tailgate area and stay overnight is the fee $20 or $30? 

It will be $20.00;  $10.00 of which is the vehicle pass and $10.00 is for the Friday night camping fee.

4. If sleeping in a truck camper costs more than sleeping in a car, why?  Because the truck camper is a camper; all campers must pay a nightly fee.  A car is not.

Yes, thanks Mike -- just wanted to know what to expect.
I don't really understand the increased cost for a truck camper if it uses no camping hookups in the flea market area (no water/electric connections) but I accept your rules and hope to attend both days with a camper.

Here is our reasoning on what constitutes a "camper" and why they are assessed a separate $10.00 camping fee for Friday night:

At the first NEAR-Fest a representative from the Fair committee went round and collected $35.00 from those who fit their definition of a"camper".  Their reason for the charge was what the Fair committee claimed "excessive electricity consumption."  I believe they looked to see if campers used any of their electricity as a criteria.  This had also been the case with the Hosstraders at Rochester and Hopkinton. 

We didn't feel this approach was the best for our attendees and so I decided to negotiate a "flat rate" which we could spread more equitably among those camping overnight.

To be fair there is some substance to their argument.  The Fair is hit with a "demand charge" from PSNH when the draw exceeds 5kW at any one time.  To make things even more complex the Fairgrounds is served by two power companies so they actually get two bills every month.  Their electric bills shoots up whenever we are there at night when the grounds have to be lit and power consumption exceeds this limit and the bill goes through the ceiling.   

In addition the first NEAR-Fest had NO provision for Thursday night camping for which there was a demand by those who had to travel a distance to attend.  There is a campground of sorts adjacent to the parking lot that is used as such during the Fair by exhibitors/concessionaires so I negotiated a flat rate for BOTH nights which would allow for Thursday night camping.   The amount we settled on was $2,000.00 for both nights and we got the adjacent campground for Thursday night in the bargain.

We do not collect anywhere near this amount in camper fees so NEAR-Fest subsidizes the difference which is substantial.  We're all in this together.  My thinking was essentially this:  Thursday night everyone pays $20.00 per vehicle.  For Friday: if you have a vehicle or trailer that is designed for sleeping in comfort then you should be able to help us in a small way to offset the $2,000 we have to pay rather than assess the fee for everyone who stays overnight Friday night.

Besides, the $10.00 admission cost is a bargain for two days of fun and fellowship.  Every ticket and pass we sell are in multiples of $10.00 which makes life a lot easier for the Shriners selling them.  We don't want to increase this unless there's no possible alternative.
